3 to 5-year Postdoctoral Research Assistant Position —

The Physical Cosmology group at the University Observatory of the
Department of Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University announces
the opportunity for a Postdoctoral position in the area of cosmology.
Scientists with a PhD degree in Physics, Astrophysics, or related
fields are invited to apply.
Successful applicants will be expected to conduct original research
in theoretical, phenomenological, or observational cosmology in an
active interdisciplinary environment.
The post holder is expected to carry out a modest amount of teaching
for the university’s bachelor and master programs in physics
and astrophysics, and will be encouraged to supervise students in
their thesis phase.
We aim to fill the position from as early as September 2019 but
the latest until December 2019.
For experienced scientists the offer for the position can be for up
to 5 years.
The position is part of the research group under the lead of Professor
Jochen Weller.
For the Postdoctoral position we are looking for a person with a
background in either theoretical, phenomenological, or observational
cosmology including the areas of dark energy, large-scale structure,
clusters of galaxies, cosmic microwave background, and machine learning
in astrophysics.
But this is an open call, so all cosmologists are encouraged to apply.
The research assistant is expected to play an active role in at least
one of the following surveys:
Dark Energy Survey (DES), eRosita, and Euclid.
The salary is paid according to the German public service pay
agreement TV-L E13.
